04. CHALLENGE

Both volunteers and organizations face challenges when trying to connect through existing platforms. For volunteers, finding opportunities that match their interests, location, and schedule is often cumbersome, while organizations struggle to manage volunteer applications, track engagement, and build credibility.

The challenge was to design a user experience that caters to both audiences, offering clear navigation, easy access to key features, and a reliable system for matching volunteers with the right opportunities.

05. RESULTS

The final design achieved several key objectives. It improved volunteer engagement by allowing volunteers to easily find and apply for opportunities that match their preferences, leading to greater satisfaction. Organizational management was streamlined, enabling organizations to efficiently post and manage opportunities while tracking volunteer engagement.

06. PROCESS

Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

Information Architecture: Based on the research insights, I redesigned the platform’s structure to streamline access to key features and make navigation more intuitive for both user groups.

Wireframing & Prototyping: I designed low-fidelity wireframes to outline a clean, minimalistic layout that facilitates easy navigation. The focus was on creating a dashboard for volunteers and organizations to manage activities and simple forms for searching and posting opportunities. Once the structure was validated, I developed interactive high-fidelity prototypes.

Visual Design & Style Guide: The color palette features shades of blue and purple, evoking trust and reflecting the platform’s mission for social good. To maintain design consistency across future updates, I created a comprehensive style guide that includes color palettes, typography guidelines, iconography and visual elements, button and input field styles, and layout grids for responsive design.

07. CONCLUSION

While the current design meets most of the project goals, further iterations could include advanced features like rewards system for volunteers and more comprehensive analytics tools for organizations.

This case study reflects my process from research to final design, emphasizing user-centered thinking and iterative improvement to build a meaningful experience for both volunteers and organizations on Voluntarius.
